BrainWare SAFARI strengthens your clients’ capacity to learn
and be successful – not just for the next test – but throughout their lives.
Better Mind … Better Life®.
BrainWare SAFARI develops the ability to learn and think effectively in a comprehensive, integrated and engaging way – the way the brain works.
Award-winning BrainWare Safari builds 41 cognitive skills in 6 areas: Attention, Memory, Thinking, Visual Processing, Auditory Processing and Sensory Integration. The 20 exercises in BrainWare SAFARI (most users call them games, rather than exercises – and that’s ok with us!) are based on decades of proven clinical practice from multiple disciplines. BrainWare SAFARI is easy to incorporate in your practice to enhance outcomes, to gain insight into client strengths and weaknesses, and to individualize therapy.

A Flexible Tool for In-Office and At-Home Use

BrainWare SAFARI is an award-winning software program that incorporates decades of proven clinical approaches to cognitive skills development into an engaging video-game format. The program contains 20 exercises comprising 168 progressively challenging levels that develop and strengthen 41 cognitive skills.

The 41 skills fall into six categories.

BrainWare SAFARI is used by many different types of clinicians and learning specialists to help their patients/clients/students improve the functioning of cognitive processes.  It can be used as a stand-alone cognitive training tool, or as a supplement to other therapies, including vision therapy, speech and language therapy, occupational therapy, cognitive rehabilitation and remediation of learning disabilities.

If you work in the field of cognitive training, you likely are aware of other programs used for brain training or development of specific cognitive functions.  BrainWare SAFARI is unique in several ways:

  • It exercises cognitive skills in an integrated manner (like cross-training form the mind).
  • It is built on 40 years of muti-disciplinary clinical therapy practice.
  • It is supported by published peer-reviewed research and numerous field studies demonstrating a significant impact on cognitive skills and transfer to academic performance.
  • It is more comprehensive in the breadth of skills developed than other brain programs.
  • It provides a fun and engaging video-game experience.

Regardless of the types of patients/clients/students you work with, there are a few things you should know:

WHO

BrainWare SAFARI is recommended for ages 6 through adult.  Children should know the alphabet and their numbers through 100, and they need to be able to use a mouse.

WHAT

While BrainWare SAFARI looks like a video game -- and users find it engaging -- the exercises in the program are just that.  This is not a collection of brain games, but a program of cognitive therapy that was developed over 40 years by clinicians using and sharing their best practices.  The cognitive therapy was then incorporated into a computer-based delivery system that uses the best practices of video games and the Internet to enable progress monitoring by a clinician or learning specialist.

WHEN

The recommended protocol of using BrainWare SAFARI for most users is 3 to 5 times a week for 12 to 14 weeks, for 30 to 60 minutes per session.  The reason for this protocol is that it is the frequency of usage that has shown dramatic gains in cognitive skills and academic performance in research studies.  The protocol may be adapted for use following concussion or for use with individuals with intellectual disabilities, among other special situations.

WHERE

BrainWare SAFARI runs on a computer, either a PC or a Mac.  There is software that is installed on the computer and it requires an Internet connection.  The computer must have speakers.  A headset and mouse are recommended.  The software may be installed on as many computers as you wish, in your office and/or at the clients' home.  Each user has a unique username and password to log in so they can access the program from any computer with BrainWare.

The first thing most clinicians and learning specialists want to do is to see BrainWare SAFARI for themselves.  We are happy to schedule a personal demonstration for you which we will conduct via an online meeting.  You can easily include your staff (even if they are in different offices).

Parents Say ... You Can Give This Gift to Your Child

by Cheryl M. (Drew, Age 10)

"It's like the difference between taking your child to a music lesson and sitting and waiting or having the music teacher come to your house. You can manage it, you can get your hands around it, and you can give this gift to your child."

Parents Say ... This Program Has Been a Gift

by

"Fourth grade was miserable for my daughter. Even though she did her homework every night and had a reading tutor, she wasn't able to retain facts, read at a second-grade level, and rarely passed tests in class. Her teacher requested holding her back. She started using BrainWare Safari two weeks before fifth grade. After just 3 weeks of practicing 4-5 times per week for 30 minutes each session, she was not only telling me her multiplication facts, but figuring out our her division facts. Her reading comprehension has increased and her ability to write paragraphs. This program has been a gift."

Parents Say ... Other Programs Don’t Have the Depth of Research

by Sue D. (Michael, Age 12)

BrainWare is more intensive and strategic in terms of building connections in the brain. It's wonderful! Other games don't have the depth of research behind them."

Adult Users Say ... I Am Very Aware of How Specific Exercises Help Me in My Job

by Sam Kline, Construction Field Engineer

When I interviewed for my current job as a Construction Field Engineer, I was asked to take an aptitude test. I was told that very few people got halfway through the test. I completed 49 out of 50 questions and received one of the highest scores ever. Having used BrainWare Safari, I was able to process and respond quickly. I am very aware of how specific exercises help me in my job role. The directionality and visualization exercises have made it is easy for me to direct a co-worker right or left to set up instrumentation in the field even if I am not facing the same direction. And the scanning exercises help with noticing small details in drawings. To me, BrainWare breaks down the basic building blocks of thinking and learning."

Adult Users Say ... If I’d Had It Earlier, School Would Have Been Much Less Difficult

by Joshua Woodward, MSW, Chicago, IL

"I spent the better part of my years in grammar school in "LD" classes, where I wasn't challenged. I suffered when I made the transition to "Mainstream" classes. My performance was average at best, but I was able to teach myself the necessary skills to be as successful as my peers and did the same at all of the subsequent transitions to junior high, high school, college and graduate school. After having worked through BrainWare Safari, I can attest to its usability as well as playability. Had I been given such a tool in my early stages of learning, i blelieve my time in school would have been less difficult."

Educators Say ... The Program Boosted Their Self-Esteem

by Natalie Cordell, Teacher, IN

"I love BrainWare Safari and so do the students. The program is indeed a great way for the students to learn while having fun. Many of them have shown more willingness to work independently. The program definitely has boosted thier self-esteem as they have graduated many levels. It is rewarding to watch them solve problems and reach success."

Parents Say ... Grades Have Improved

by Mary H. (Philip, Age 10)

"Whereas before Philip would come home and want to do other things because homework was too hard or would take too long. Now he comes home and does it. And the best part is his grades have improved."

Parents Say ... More Willing to Work Independently

by Fred K. (Katelyn, Age 7)

"I noticed a change in Katelyn's willingness to work independently. She seems a lot more willing to take on a task and work through it on her own."

Homeschooling Parents Say ... I Find the Exercises Challenging for Myself

by J.Detweiler, Homeschooling Parent

"My daughter, who is 8 years old, really enjoys BrainWare Safari. She has Sensory Processing Disorder; her vision and auditory system are impacted by this. The games do a great job targeting the skills she needs improvement on. We've found some of the games are similar to exercises her vision therapist was having her do. The one exception though is BrainWare Safari does it in a way that's more fun. As a parent, I enjoy watching her play the games and find them challenging for myself."

Educators Say ... I Just Want to Say Thank You

by Corinne Lake, Valley Christian Junior High

"Twice a week student groups report to a facility with laptops that have the BrainWare Safari software. They bascially play games, but in the meantime are developing a mastery level at paying close attention to details and memory skill development. I just want to say thank you. The stuents are being helped and are enjoying the process very much. I think many students can benefit from this affordable software and will be recommending it to parents for giving their children some activity in the summer that is fun and educational."
