“The world has so many lessons to teach you. I consider the world to be like a school, and our life, the classrooms.”

Homeschool

One of the most common reasons parents decide to educate their children at home is to provide them with a better education than they believe they will receive in the school options available to them.  Sometimes this means a more challenging and rigorous curriculum.  Sometimes this means an environment that is better adapted to a child with learning issues, attention issues, a different learning style or another special need.  While the number of students being homeschooled has grown, charter schools and school district programs have developed as well to support the efforts of homeschooling families.

Whatever a family’s motivation and whether a child struggles with or excels at learning, the underlying cognitive skills needed to succeed academically are the same.  Skills like attention, visual processing, auditory processing, memory, sensory integration and thinking skills are critical for learning and they can be improved.  For many homeschooled children, improved cognitive skills mean both greater success in academics and greater self-esteem and motivation.

BrainWare Safari as Part of a Homeschool Program

Thousands of students have used BrainWare Safari in a homeschool environment.  Parents, and students themselves, typically see significant changes in the students’ ability to:

  • Complete school assignments
  • Stay focused on school work
  • Take on more challenging work
  • Improved academic success
  • Improved problem-solving
  • Work independently

In a study during the 2010-2011 school year, students at Circle of Independent Learning Charter School in Fremont, CA, a school that supports homeschooling families with personalized resources, were provided with BrainWare Safari.  Cognitive skill improvements were seen in all areas:

Homeschooling Parents Say ... I Find the Exercises Challenging for Myself

by J.Detweiler, Homeschooling Parent

"My daughter, who is 8 years old, really enjoys BrainWare Safari. She has Sensory Processing Disorder; her vision and auditory system are impacted by this. The games do a great job targeting the skills she needs improvement on. We've found some of the games are similar to exercises her vision therapist was having her do. The one exception though is BrainWare Safari does it in a way that's more fun. As a parent, I enjoy watching her play the games and find them challenging for myself."

All our students improved their cognitive abilities after completing the exercises in BrainWare Safari. Educators Say ... Gives Teachers Valuable Data They Can Use to Improve Their Instruction
